Happy First Birthday Mateo! Another First Year baby recently celebrated his birthday and I just can’t believe it. There is no better word to describe how I’m feeling than bittersweet. I’ve spent a whole year watching this little boy’s story unfold. I watched his parents excitedly anticipate his arrival. I held him at only 8 days old. I smiled in awe at how many rolls he had at just 6 months. I laughed as I watched him with his smash cake during his first birthday portraits.

Sweet Mateo, never forget what a wonderful boy you are. You are smart, sweet and ever so curious. May you learn and experience lots of new and wonderful things, but never forget where you came from! You have two parents who love you so much and a photographer who will always be grateful to capture your story!

I’ve been looking forward to sweet Mila coming into the studio for her first birthday! Mila is one of my little Baby’s First Year clients, who has basically grown up in front of my camera! Over the months, I’ve seen her gorgeous head of hair grow and grow. Some babies are bald or have spots of growing hair, but adorable Mila has always had the most beautiful locks!

Mila’s one year session was adorable, but not in the way that you might expect. She was really unsure of her cake and it took a lot of coaxing for her to try a bite. After tasting the cake and not loving it, her parents decided she’s more like her mom instead of dad, who LOVES sweets.

It’s so special when I get to take pictures for people that I know! Taytum’s great grandmother, Di, has been my mom and I’s hairdresser for over 10 years. She is one of the most genuine people, always offering up her positivity and help whenever she can. Going to a hair appointment with her is like sitting down over coffee with an aunt that adores you. So, when Di asked me to do Taytum’s Scottsdale cake smash photos, I couldn’t help but feel honored she thought of me!

The cutest thing about Taytum is seeing her little one year old body do things that you usually see out of a two or three year old! Not only did she start walking early, but she was running around, using little words and listening so well! She was SO well-behaved that it actually took some coaxing to get her to eat her cake. She kept looking at her mom and dad for permission! Taytum’s birthday is in December so we had fun mixing Christmas colors and textures with her nursery colors, turquoise and purple, for her session.

If you have a baby turning one soon, I would LOVE to chat about their Scottsdale cake smash!

It’s no secret that I am a Disney girl – I love anything and everything related to the Walt Disney Company. So, when the opportunity arose to do a Tinkerbell themed session for Penney’s cake smash photos, I was so excited!

I met Penney’s mom, Jennie, through a local group for creative businesses. Jennie is an extremely talented wedding photographer and we had a blast talking shop while Penney played with everything *but* her cake. Who can resist some glitter, confetti and balloons?

Penney has grown into the sweetest little toddler, with the perfect combination of sass and sweetness. It was so cute to see her grab onto the balloons and giggle when her mom tossed glitter over her head. She did eat a little bit of cake too! Penney was the cutest little Tinkerbell there is!

For years, I have dreamed of having a beautiful space to welcome families and I can’t believe that dream has finally become a reality! I’m proud to introduce my Scottsdale portrait studio, a space designed specifically with young families in mind. Being a new parent is such a rewarding, but crazy time! I know that you loose a lot of sleep, forget to eat meals and are knee-deep in diapers and that’s okay because I’ve got you covered; please think of my studio as your home away from home and make yourself comfortable!

The studio is located in North Scottsdale in the Airpark, conveniently close to Kierland and the Scottsdale Quarter. With plenty of parking and natural light, our space is the perfect spot for a newborn and baby portrait studio. I can’t wait to give you a peek inside! Are you ready!?

The sitting area is my very favorite part of the studio! With comfortable seating, fresh gourmet snacks and a TV to watch Netflix, it is truly the perfect place for parents to relax during baby’s session. Please feel free to make yourself comfortable and even take a little nap!

The changing area has everything that you could possibly need! Although I give you a list of things to pack, I know that you may run out of something or accidentally leave something at home. There is a variety of Honest, Aden and Anais and other baby goodies for you to enjoy; please help yourself!

The shooting area is full of gorgeous natural light to capture timeless portraits of your precious little one. With an extensive selection of fabrics, headbands, hats and backgrounds, I will design a session tailored to your vision. Your baby’s first portraits will be some of your most treasured possessions and I can’t wait to create them for you!
